Loving God with All Your Mind - Matthew 22:37 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind"
We know that the atmosphere was hot as the spiritually dead religious leaders sought to test Jesus and catch him in a trap. A scribe asked, “What commandment is the foremost of all?" Jesus simply replied in a much more simplified statement as stated above as the first commandment (Matthew 22:37)
Jesus did not only stop there though It seems he did answered the question he was being asked. He went further to say "You shall love your neighbor as yourself" There is no other commandment greater than these.
Therefore, the above could be thus simplified; "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength by serving others"
You see Jesus in all three of the synoptic gospels adds one way which we are to love God that is not mentioned in Deuteronomy 6. He inserts the word mind (Loving God with All Your Mind)
He makes it explicit that our minds are an integral part of loving our God.
Our world is alive with fascinating new ideas, discoveries, and technologies. But for Christians this can also present problems especially when the values of life conflict with basic Christian principles. What should Christians do when their beliefs come under attack in the classroom or the public square? Loving God with All Your Mind
The answer is neither wholesale rejection of intellectual life and culture, nor blind acceptance of it. The answer lies in understanding that Jesus is Lord of all of life and that everything in life must be carefully viewed in the light of what Christ’s lordship means.
When our mind is right with God, we begin to create new inventions that will not only benefit the world BUT will also glorify God. Loving God with All Your Mind
