After every message by any Christian minister, you’ll always hear about salvation. Its called the 'call to salvation' or prayer of salvation for the lost souls (Unbelievers).
“Jesus answered him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6). This is to say good works cannot save you. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9. To really demonstrate your Salvation as a gift from God, here is what you must do:
1. Recognize and Admit that you are a sinner – “for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). All including a day old baby. We were formed in iniquity and in sin did our parents conceived us.
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned" (Romans 5:12)
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." – 1st John 1:10.
2. Be willing to turn from sin and repent - I tell you, No. But unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Very blunt right? Sure it is but it is not my word. I didn’t say it; Jesus Said it in Luke 13:5
Its only a dog that returns to its vomits. Sin is a vomit. Once you are saved via the prayer of salvation, you’re directly saying “Lord, I’m turning away from my sins and back to you." Going back will be like a dog and the bible called dogs ‘Unbelievers’ “As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly” - Pro 26:11
3. Believe the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for your sake.
Believe that Jesus Christ died for your salvation, was buried, and rose from the dead out of the love God had for you. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16. If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that he died for your sins and God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved according to Romans 10:9.
4. Accept and Invite him into your Heart
Through the prayer of salvation, invite Jesus into your life to become your personal Lord and Savior. "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:10 and "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Romans 10:13.
You’ve heard over and over again that salvation is free. This is true compared to other forms of satisfaction but you really need to work hard on your Christian faith. The Christian Faith (Christianity is not a religion) is like a journey. The more you go, the more you get use to the route.
The more you read your bible, the more you gain understanding of the word of God and salvation is the first chapter in the book of your personal relationship with God.
