This is a fundamental question that must be answered by every individual who claims to have the call of God upon his or her life – why am I in ministry. What is my calling, what are my gifts?
Essentially, ministry is service and success or exploit in ministry begins with service.
Jesus told them, "I have food to eat that you don't know about." The disciples asked each other, "Did someone bring him something to eat?" Jesus told them, "My food is to do what the one who sent me wants me to do and to finish the work he has given me - John 4:32-34
Until you reach a level where your sole aim as a minister is to do the will of God who has called you first, you cannot be referred to as a minister. Jesus "Foxes have holes, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to sleep." Mat 8:20.
Ministry should not be seen as a means to livelihood or a source of INCOME as many have turned it to.
Ministry should be because you want others to live, not because you want to get a living.
You don’t live on others but living for others as a minister.
